Minister Bui Quang Vinh receives IMF Resident Representative for Vietnam

(MPI Portal) – On March 4th 2015, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Planning and Investment, Minister Bui Quang Vinh had a meeting with Mr. Sanjay Karla, Resident Representative of International Monetary Fund (IMF) for Vietnam.

Speaking at the Meeting, Minister Bui Quang Vinh said that Vietnam’s economy has continued being stable with 5.98% of GDP growth, higher than the goals set forth, recovery production. Besides efforts of Vietnam, there are assistance of international organizations, including IMF. The Minister also emphasized the influence of world economy to Vietnam and the importance of monetary policy in curbing inflation and stabilizing macroeconomy. The Minister highly appreciated the IMF’s role and affirmed that the MPI would continue to coordinate with the IMF more closely in learning international experience, making predictions about economy and monetary policy of Vietnam.

The Resident Representative of IMF for Vietnam agreed with above contents and desired to strengthen cooperation with Vietnamese related authorities through studies, reports, exchange of information, technical assistance programs and training courses, seminars of the IMF.

At the meeting, Minister Bui Quang Vinh desired the IMF to organize training courses to improve capacity of the MPI’s staffs in terms of socio-economic forecast. The two sides committed to boost cooperation further in many fields in order to raise effectiveness of planning policy in Vietnam./.
