(MPI) – On September 5th 2017, the MPI chaired and held a press conference on the preparation for the 24th APEC SME Ministerial meeting (SMEMM).

The theme of APEC 2017 SMEMM is “Enhancing MSME competitiveness and innovation in the globalized age”. The week will be held from 10^th to 15^th September 2017 in Ho Chi Minh city. Three sub-themes under are: Facilitating SME’s access to market and deeper integration into global value chain; Enabling business environment for SME through better access to technology, management and capacity building in training, consultancy and business matching; Strengthening APEC entrepreneurship in the digital age: promoting startup and business ethnics.

Speaking at the press conference, Mr. Ho Sy Hung, Director General of Enterprise Development Agency of the MPI said that the APEC SMEMM week will contribute to the diversified activities of the Vietnam APEC 2017, as well as valuable opportunities for discussion, suggestion to achieve effective cooperation within APEC framework in order to enhance the integration capacity of localities and enterprises, contributing to promote socio-economic development in the context of globalization and deeper economic integration.

In the line with the properties of the APEC 2017, there are some related meetings including: APEC O2O Froum on September 10^th; Workshop on Upgrading MSMEs Access to Finance in a Digital Age on September 11^th; APEC Startup Forum on Septermber 11^th & 12^th; Workshop on APEC Digital Economy on September 12^th and the 45^th APEC SME Working Group Meeting on September 13^th & 14^th.

The 24^th APEC SMEMM is expected to discuss and approve key documents: APEC SME Ministers’ statement on promoting innovative start-ups; Strategy for green, sustainable and innovative MSMEs; Report to the 2017 APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting./.
