(MPI) - Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung hosted a reception in Hanoi on October 11 for visiting Governor of Gunma prefecture, Japan Yamamoto Ichita.

The relationship between Vietnam and Japan is currently at the finest development stage, with many cooperation opportunities opened between the two countries’ businesses, Minister Dung said. Vietnam attaches importance to and calls on Japanese enterprises to view it as an important investment destination.
He applauded the efforts and contributions of the Governor and Gunma authorities in fostering the cooperative relationship with Vietnamese localities, as well as encouraging their businesses to explore investment, business opportunities in the country.
Vietnam always welcomes, listens to, accompanies with and provides all possible conditions for Japan and Gunma enterprises to operate effectively and successfully in the country, the minister noted.
Briefing the guest on Vietnam’s socio-economic performance, he stressed that the country has a stable political environment, and is entering the golden population period with abundant and young workforce. The Vietnamese Government is pushing ahead with better business environment, infrastructure development, institutional reforms and high-quality human resources, especially those in semiconductor industry.
He added, the MPI’s National Innovation Centre also covers various technology industries, especially in new industries such as digital transformation, digital economy, green economy and circular economy that seek cooperation opportunities with Gunma enterprises and universities.
Minister Dung said that there remains ample room for Japanese investors, including those of Gunma prefecture, to cooperate and invest in Vietnam. Vietnam is calling for more investments in different economic sectors, he added, suggesting Japanese enterprises to take full advantages of their strengths and Vietnam’s potential to invest and do business, and partner with Vietnamese firms to promote technology transfer and research, bringing mutual benefits and joining the global value chain together.
The minister urged Gunma authorities and enterprises enhance collaboration to make their investment a typical model, thus deepening the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.
For his part, Yamamoto agreed with the minister’s opinions, adding that the two countries boast huge cooperation opportunities in the time ahead, especially between Gunma prefecture and Vietnamese localities.
The governor informed Minister Dung about the operation of Gunma enterprises, as well as proposed solutions to address problems facing enterprises investing in Vietnam. He pledged to continue supporting economic exchanges and human resource development between the two countries.
He said that many participating enterprises have decided to invest in Vietnam, while many others expressed their interest in the investment,
The Governor highly appreciated the country’s great potentials, especially abundant workforce in information industry, and the outstanding development in leveraging science-technology and digital transformation.
Yamamoto expressed his hope that the MPI and personally the minister will continue supporting and creating favourable conditions for Gunma enterprises to invest and do business effectively in the country./.
