(MPI) - The National Innovation Center (NIC), under Ministry of Planning and Investment in collaboration with the Global Semiconductor Association (SEMI) held a press meeting on October 23 to announce the Vietnam Semiconductor Industry Exhibition 2024 - SEMIExpo Vietnam 2024.

The event, themed “Elevating Vietnam in the Global Semiconductor Supply Chain,” is scheduled to take place from November 7-8, 2024 at NIC Hoa Lac Hi-tech Park.

Vu Quoc Huy, NIC Director announced that the SEMIExpo Vietnam represents a proactive step by the MPI. As the advisory body for socio-economic development strategy, the ministry aims to fulfill its role in the Semiconductor Industry Development Strategy and the Human Resource Development Programme for the semiconductor industry, in which the focus is on promoting international cooperation to mobilize resources for developing the industry, connecting business investments between domestic and international enterprises to develop the auxiliary industrial ecosystem, and attracting investment from leading global corporations in the semiconductor sector.

Vietnam has actively collaborated with top global tech corporations to co-invest and develop the semiconductor industry ecosystem in Vietnam, and cultivate high-quality human resources for this promising industry.

Linda Tan, President of SEMI Southeast Asia, affirmed SEMI’s commitment to supporting and enhancing Vietnam's position in the global semiconductor industry.

She stated that the event serves as a foundation for cooperation, innovation, and strategic partnerships. SEMI hopes to contribute to the next growth phase for the semiconductor industry in Vietnam and the broader Southeast Asia region.

SEMIExpo Vietnam 2024, being held for the first time in Vietnam, will see the participation from major global and Vietnamese semiconductor technology corporations such as Global Foundries, Amkor, AMD, Lam Research, Coherent, Cadence, KLA, Synopsys, Intel, Marvell, Onsemi Qorvo, FPT, and more.

SEMIExpo Vietnam 2024 offers organisations and businesses opportunities to promote their business environments, investment opportunities, and develop the semiconductor industry in Vietnam, connects investment and business between Vietnamese and foreign companies in the semiconductor field, updates on global advanced technology trends in the semiconductor industry, including AI applications in circuit design, and engages in dialogue with the national steering committee for semiconductor industry to foster the development of the semiconductor’s ecosystem and workforce.

Additionally, the event will also facilitate connections and provide information about scholarships for students and develop talent for the industry./.
