(MPI) - Vietnam’s overseas investment reached over 177. million USD during the first nine months this year, equalling 42.6% year on year.

In the first nine months this year, Vietnamese businesses invested 105 new projects abroad and 18 projects having their added capital. Vietnam’s total investment were about 177.4 million USD (equivalent 42.6% year on year).
Vietnamese investors invested in 15 sectors abroad, with the mining sector topping the list (accounting for 33% of the total investment). Followed were wholesale and retail (or 17.4%), electricity production and distribution (or 13.2%), and other sectors.
Among 27 countries and territories recording Vietnamese investments during the period, the Netherlands took the lead (30.8%), followed by Laos (24.5%) and the US (16.8%).
By the end of September, Vietnam had 1,772 valid overseas investment projects with combined capital of nearly 22.11 billion USD.
The investments concentrated on mining (31.8%); agriculture, forestry and fishery (15.5%). Meanwhile, the biggest destinations of Vietnamese investments were Laos (24.9%); Cambodia (13.3%); and Venezuela (8.3%)./.
