Speaking at the event, Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung, who is also deputy head of the national steering committee on semiconductor industry development, noted that Vietnam’s political stability, continuous economic growth over many years, and a young, creative, and abundant workforce make it an attractive destination for semiconductor investors.

Recognising this opportunity, the Government of Vietnam has issued the Vietnam’s semiconductor industry development through 2030, vision to 2050, with the goal of making Vietnam a global semiconductor and electronics center while developing the semiconductor and electronics industries from 2030 to 2040.

The recent approved programme on developing human resources for the semiconductor industry set a target to train at least 50,000 engineers and workers with bachelor's and higher degrees in all stages of the semiconductor value chain, provide intensive training for 1,300 lecturers, and build national-level and local-level laboratories to serve the training of human resources.

“Our goal is not only to participate in the global value chain but also to develop an advanced and appealing regional and global semiconductor industry ecosystem, ensuring the country’s self-reliance and sustainable development in this sector”, he said.

Vietnam has met the conditions to welcome and collaborate with businesses and investors worldwide in the semiconductor industry. The minister expressed confidence that the event would serve as a platform to connect Vietnam with the global semiconductor sector, facilitating broader cooperation to advance Vietnam as a crucial link in the global semiconductor supply chain, contributing to sustainable development and general prosperity, and setting a solid foundation for the country enter the new era - the era of the nation's rise as outlined by Party General Secretary To Lam.
