The dialogue served as a high-level forum for exchanging and sharing best practices in the semiconductor industry from experts, business leaders, and policy planners from both international and Vietnamese backgrounds.
Aiming to promote the sustainable development of the semiconductor industry in Vietnam, the programme is a effort by the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI) to create a favorable environment for discussing national strategies, investing in infrastructure, and establishing practical support policies for the semiconductor industry. Through this, Vietnam aims to engage effectively and proactively in the semiconductor supply chain stages, maximizing its advantages and turning it into an attractive destination for major investors in the field.
Minister Dung stated that Vietnam is gradually laying the foundation for the development of the semiconductor industry with a complete ecosystem to support deeper business integration into the global value chain.
The delegates at the dialogue focused their discussions on various issues raised by the MPI minister, such as sharing experiences from different countries on support policies and completing the necessary infrastructure for the semiconductor industry development; evaluating participation capabilities in the global semiconductor industry supply chain and production; and plans for cooperation with Vietnam.
They also shared the demand for human resources by businesses in the coming times, successful cooperation models between businesses, institutes, and schools for training semiconductor industry personnel in Vietnam, and the implementation of the goal to train 50,000 engineers and workers with bachelor's and higher degrees in all stages of the semiconductor value chain, as outlined at the Human resources development programme for semiconductor industry; and enhancing cooperation opportunities with partners to develop hi-quality workforce that meet practical needs and benefit all parties.
Minister Dung also expressed confidence that, with the high determination of the government leaders, with clear strategies, policies, an attractive, competitive business investment environment, and well-prepared human resources, Vietnam will soon rise to become an important link in the global supply chain, and hopes to receive support and cooperation from relevant parties, including the Southeast Asian Semiconductor Association./.
