Deputy Minister Trung applauded the SIA for their activities and initiatives in supporting Vietnam to develop the semiconductor industry, as well as connecting member companies to research business opportunities in Vietnam.
Emphasising innovation and semiconductors are identified as a crucial pillar in the Vietnam-US Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, he suggested the SIA continue encouraging its company members to cooperate and invest more extensively and effectively in Vietnam in the fields of semiconductor and artificial intelligence.
The deputy minister urged the association to coordinate with the MPI’s National Innovation Centre (NIC) to implement Vietnam’s programme on developing human resources for the semiconductor industry until 2030, with a vision to 2050. He said, the Vietnamese Government pays much attention to train high-quality semiconductor workforce, which will provide cooperation opportunities for SIA to help Vietnamese firms join the global supply chain.
He affirmed that the MPI stands ready to work with SIA to bring effective cooperation in the semiconductor industry, and continue implementing set forth plans.
For his part, SIA Chairman expressed his delight at seeing Vietnam’s strong determination and commitment to develop the semiconductor industry, as well as its advantages of abundant, young workforces and important infrastructure.
Neffeur had visited Vietnam twice (in January and October last year) and attended the inauguration ceremony of NIC Hoa Lac and the opening of the Vietnam International Innovation Expo, demonstrating SIA’s interest in the Vietnamese market.
He also lauded Vietnam’s initiatives in training 50,000 semiconductor engineers, alongside significant progress in advancing this industry with many action plans to develop the semiconductor industry and strong supply chain.
Neffeur said, SIA members and US enterprises also engaged in fostering main pillars of the Vietnam-US relations, including semiconductors and innovation, and will continue to participate in leveraging the two countries’ partnership.
Members of the delegation expressed their strong commitments to the Vietnamese market, and shared updates on their operations and plans to invest and expand business in the near future./.
