The minister made his speech while hosting Special Advisor to the Japan-Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Alliance Takebe Tsutomu in Hanoi on December 4. He also spoke highly of the strong and positive development of Vietnam-Japan relationship, including the efforts and contributions of Takebe.
Minister Dung said that Vietnam identifies development orientations of becoming a developing country with modern industry and high-middle income by 2030, creating a significant foundation to realise the goal of becoming a modern, high-income economy by 2045. It is important to achieve and maintain a high economic growth rate.
He stated that the country is currently focusing on developing growth scenarios and driving forces for development. This includes significant investments in the North-South high-speed railway infrastructure, railways connecting industrial zones and clusters with seaports, and urban railway systems in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. Therefore, Vietnam seeks Japan's cooperation to achieve these goals.
For his part, Takebe thanked the MPI and the minister personally for promoting and implementing collaborative programmes between the two countries, especially the Vietnam-Japan University (VJU) project. He also appreciated Vietnam’s initiatives in developing the semiconductor industry, and expressed confidence that the two countries would engage in effective collaboration in this field in the future.
During the meeting, representatives from Japanese enterprises shared updates on their investment and business activities in Vietnam, and outlined plans to expand their operations and investments in the coming years.
Regarding business activities, Minister Dung called on Japanese enterprises continue to expand their investments in Vietnam, particularly in priority sectors and emerging industries. He emphasised that there are ample room and potential for the two sides to collaborate and complement each other for mutual development.
The MPI will stand ready to create the most favorable conditions for foreign investors, including Japanese one, to do business smoothly and effectively in Vietnam./.
