Deputy Minister Dong said that Vietnam currently has nearly 900,000 businesses that contribute more than 60 percent of the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Enterprises are pioneers in applying science and technology, promoting innovation, and constantly enhancing their productivity, making significant contributions to improving the national competitiveness in the new context of globalisation.
However, Vietnamese businesses, especially SMEs, still face several challenges such as low competitiveness, low productivity and lacking capacity to join global and regional supply chains. They will also have difficulties in both stabilising production and meeting new requirements of green transition, digital transformation and sustainable development in the context of global economic fluctuations and high level of openness of national economy.
To make full use of the project, Deputy Minister Dong suggested ministries, agencies, localities, and associations encourage businesses participate in the courses. Local authorities should pay attention to and coordinate with VINASME to support business studying and improving their management capacity in the new context.

Nguyen Van Than, VINASME Chairman said that the association has carefully surveyed the needs of member businesses to design detailed and specific programmes that meet the need of various groups of businesses and industries. Through the online course, businesses in need will be trained in market knowledge and connected directly with potential customers, thereby upgrading internal capacity as well as their input and output performance.
With the coordination of the MPI, SMEs will quickly access to the State’s policies and have chance to participate in policy recommendation from an early stage, he said. The project delivers the viewpoints and spirit of the Party and State to the business community and SMEs in particular, which are promoting the role of Vietnamese entrepreneurs in building, creating, developing, and protecting the country in the new period.
The online course will be conducted on the www.smelearning.vn website from 2024 to 2035, with the goal of organising 1,000 courses by 2025 and about 5,000 courses by 2035. About 1.5 million businesses nationwide will have access to free and quality courses with a clear roadmap and development stages. More than 6,000 employees will be able to participate and benefit from the courses.
The course will equip businesses with basic and in-depth knowledge for six stages, which are business concept, business establishment, business operation, growth, mature/stable development, and Initial Public Offering (IPO). It will fully capitalise on the advantages and potential of the fourth industrial revolution, such as artificial intelligence (AI) and big data, to create a convenient learning environment for Vietnamese SMEs, gradually forming learning enterprises and helping businesses enhance their development capacity in a sustainable direction./.
