Minister Nguyen Chi Dung works Vietnam Innovation Network in Korea

At the working session, VINK leaders briefed Minister Dung on the network’s activities recently and its future plans, particularly the network plans to continue current activities and implement a talent incubation programme in the field of AI, with support from the Vietnam National Innovation Centre (NIC).

They gave some recommendations on the development of semiconductors in Vietnam, such as packaging stage, tax and capital incentives for businesses in semiconductor workforce training, and partnerships with other countries such as Israel and Singapore. Along with that, VINK members proposed to establish an AI research and application center to support disabled people and helping them participate in daily activities and production.

Recognising VINK’s activities and contributions over the years, Minister Dung asked the network to strengthen business connection and assistance, and continue to develop startup support programmes such as the Vietnam - Korea Startups Exchange (VKSE).

Regarding underway activities and projects on semiconductor and AI training, he asked members of the network to strengthen connectivity with world leading experts, institutes and universities that able to cooperate, supply and transfer training programmes, along with organisations (such as incubation and investment funds) that have suitable resources to help Vietnam in these areas

The miniser noted that the NIC Hoa Lac, with 20,000 sqm, is putting into use with many incentives for partners, thus he asked VINK to coordinate with the centre to partner with major Korean tech firms, encourage them seek opportunities in Vietnamese market, and plan to launch research agencies, offices, labs and factories at NIC Hoa Lac.

He suggested that VINK continue to share technology knowledge, organise more forums to link up with investors, businesses and corporations in the fields of semiconductors, information technology AI, and digital content, which are the industries that South Korea is strong at.

Minister Dung advised the network to continue to attract more members who are Vietnamese and international experts and intellectuals, and those are interested in and seeking investment opportunities and cooperation in innovation and technology in Vietnam, to bring long-term benefits to the homeland.

The Vietnamese MPI stands ready to collaborate with Vietnamese intellectuals in South Korea to further promote the country’s economic and scientific-technological development, he added./.
