At the forum, delegates discussed the investment potential in digital infrastructure and green energy in Vietnam, proposed collaboration on green data centers and digital transformation, promoted international cooperation in renewable energy, and provided recommendations to position Vietnam as a regional technology and financial hub.
Speaking at the seminar, Minister Nguyen Chi Dung, authorised by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, acknowledged the open, sincere, and candid discussions, emphasising that in the past decade, the world has witnessed a profound transformation driven by two key forces, which are digital revolution and energy transition.
Regarding Vietnam’s socio-economic progress after nearly 40 years of renewal, Minister Dung noted that many leading global corporations have announced plans to expand their investments in Vietnam, reflecting a new wave of investment, particularly in high tech industries, electronics, semiconductors, clean energy, transportation, and infrastructure development.
According to the minister, digital infrastructure is a foundational element for Vietnam to achieve its goal of becoming a digital nation, and stable, prosperous, and a pioneer in testing new technologies and business models. Digital infrastructure will drive fundamental and comprehensive innovation in the government’s operations, business activities, and people’s life, while fostering a safe, inclusive, and widespread digital environment. This transformation aims for a dual goal of advancing digital government, digital economy, and digital society while also fostering globally competitive Vietnamese digital enterprises.
To develop digital infrastructure and meet the surging demand for connectivity and data processing, including network monitoring and cybersecurity, Vietnam will focus on: Expanding high-quality nationwide broadband infrastructure; Restructuring frequency bands and advancing 5G mobile networks; Enhancing domestic, regional, and international internet connectivity; and Developing infrastructure for the Internet of Things (IoT).
Notably, Vietnam has been promoting the foundational conditions for high tech industries, with a focus on high-quality human resources as a core element, he added. By 2030, Vietnam aims to train and upskill thousands of high-tech engineers, including 50,000 specialists in the chip and semiconductor sectors, to meet the growing demands of the country’s modernisation efforts.
Vietnam is calling on domestic and international businesses, scientific organisations, and all sectors of society to collaborate and proactively invest in digital infrastructure and green energy projects. The country also encourages the application of advanced technologies to address environmental and social challenges and to participate in collective initiatives that drive digital transformation and sustainable development.
Minister Nguyen Chi Dung affirmed that Vietnam will accelerate investment in strategic infrastructure, prioritizing high impact projects that reduce costs and enhance national competitiveness. These efforts will restructure the economy, optimize traditional growth models while embracing new growth opportunities, strengthen the country’s internal capacity and economic autonomy, and continuously improve the business and investment environment.
On behalf of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Minister Nguyen Chi Dung reiterated Vietnam’s strong commitment to fostering digital infrastructure and green energy development. He emphasized that the Vietnamese government will always support, listen to, and facilitate the success of businesses and investors, both domestic and foreign, ensuring sustainable, long-term investments in Vietnam./.
