Minister Nguyen Chi Dung praised achievements and contributions of the SK Group in Vietnam, as well as their close cooperation with the MPI’s National Innovation Centre

Accordingly, the SK Group plans to collaborate with the Vietnamese Government in proposing the construction of large-scale LNG power plants, which would further the development of new energy centers linked with artificial intelligence (AI), logistics, hydrogen, environmentally-friendly agriculture, and innovation.

Minister Dung urged SK to continue its operation in enhancing investment in Vietnam, and supporting NIC in establishing priority industries and fields here, initially supporting the research and development of the center and training human resources in the semiconductor industry. He expressed his belief that the SK Group’s operation will contribute significantly to Vietnam’s socio-economic development and its new era of the nation’s rise.

For his part, Chey thanked the MPI for their close coordination with the SK Group in the recent time, and mentioned that the group wishes to participate in Vietnam’s green transition process, especially in the energy and industrial sectors, contributing to its net-zero goal by 2050.

Chey proposed the building of the AI and Innovation development center based on the integrated development of the Nghi Son - Quynh Lap LNG power plants in North Central Vietnam; the Hydrogen, Logistics, and Innovation Center based on the power generation from the Ca Na LNG project in South Central Vietnam; and the Environmentally Friendly Agriculture and Innovation Center based on the Ca Mau LNG project in the Mekong Delta.

The SK Chairman emphasised that with Vietnam being a priority partner in its upcoming investment strategy, the group wishes to invest and develop in the above-mentioned sectors in Vietnam. He also expressed his hope that following meetings with General Secretary To Lam, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, and Minister Nguyen Chi Dung, SK’s projects will be quickly realized and achieve many successes.

The SK Group is one of the biggest corporations in South Korea. The group will send experts to survey and understand the actual situation at the localities where the projects are implemented and hopes to receive support from the relevant Vietnamese agencies, especially the MPI. Chey affirmed the SK Group’s commitment to make all efforts to successfully implement the projects, further promoting the Vietnam-South Korea cooperation relationship./.
