Deputy Minister Phuong highly appreciated the international community and United Nation’s donation of COVID-19 vaccine to Vietnam via the COVAX Facility. Vietnam has scored many successes in socio-economic recovery and development thanks to the practical and crucial support of the international community, UN and IFAD.

IFAD has helped Vietnam in developing fruitfully agricultural sector as it is economy’s pillar and contributing to the poverty reduction and food security in Vietnam. The country sets orientation to develop modern and efficient agriculture to ensure best care for the people.

The deputy minister asked IFAD to continue supporting Vietnam in green energy transformation and development, green growth strategies and its commitment of net-zero emissions to make contributions to regional and global growth.

There is large room for Vietnam to participate in the global supply chain, especially in agricultural sector in the next period. IFAD’s orientations are match with Vietnam’s requirements to develop a competitive, strategic and safe agriculture. The Vietnamese government and agencies are committed utmost to simplify investment procedures and speed up project implementation for the mutual benefits, Phuong said.

For his part, Nigel Brett lauded the close cooperation of the Ministry of Planning and Investment and IFAD representative office in Vietnam. IFAD implements policy dialogue following the UN Food Systems Summit and hopes it will improve the MPI - IFAD’ relations in the near future.

Nigel affirmed that IFAD stands ready to cooperate with Vietnam and the MPI to accelerate projects in the Mekong Delta region./.
