(MPI) - Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment (MPI), Vice Chairman of the Vietnam-Laos cooperation committee Tran Quoc Phuong led a delegation to visit the Lao Embassy in Vietnam on July 15 to celebrate the 60th founding anniversary of Vietnam-Laos diplomatic relations (1962-2022).

Lao Ambassador to Vietnam Sengphet Houngboungnuang thanked the MPI for visiting Lao Embassy on the occasion of the 60th founding anniversary of diplomatic. He underlined that Vietnam-Laos relationship, founded by President Ho Chi Minh, President Kaysone Phomvihane and President Souphanouvong and nurtured by generations of soldiers and people of both countries, has become a priceless asset and a unique relationship in the world history.
Sengphet expressed sincere thanks to the Party, State, Government and MPI of Vietnam for giving valuable, timely support and assistance to Laos over the years, making the ties always green and everlasting.
MPI Deputy Minister Tran Quoc Phuong highlighted the solidarity between the two Parties, States and peoples as well as the relationship of the Vietnamese MPI with Lao agencies and authorities.

On the friendship year, Vietnamese agencies exchanged activities with Lao sides for celebration. Notably, Deputy Minister Phuong led Vietnam - Laos cooperation committee led by Deputy Minister Tran Quoc Phuong to visit and work on some projects in the southern provinces of Laos such as Sekong, Champasak, Khammouane and had a meeting with the Laos - Vietnam cooperation committee in Vientiane to revew the work in the first 6 months and discuss key tasks for the last 6 months of 2022. The macro working groups the MPI and Lao Government also had a working session.
The deputy minister stressed that the two countries are still facing rising costs in fuels, materials and inflation due to the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict, seriously effecting the economies. For its part, the MPI ready to share difficulties with Lao agencies and will do its utmost to advise the Government to overcome these current challenges, soon back to normal and restore socio-economic development. The MPI also commits to cooperating with Lao agencies through the Vietnam-Laos cooperation committee and Laos-Vietnam cooperation committee./.
