(MPI) - Minister Nguyen Chi Dung hosted receptions in Hanoi on July 21 for outgoing ambassadors of Switzerland and Hungary to Vietnam.

Minister Dung spoke highly of ambassadors’ contributions to strengthening the friendship and multifaceted cooperation between Vietnam and Switzerland; Vietnam and Hungary.
Receiving Swiss Ambassador Ivo Sieber, Minister Dung praised the two countries’ cooperation in various fields and said the Vietnam-Switzerland relations is at its best stage, in which the ambassador had made many crucial contributions.
Although substantial results have been achieved, it is still not really commensurate with the potential and political relationship of Vietnam and Switzerland; room remains for the two countries’ rapid and effective cooperation, said the minister.
During the Doi Moi (renewal) process, Vietnam set ambitious goals for the 2021-2030 period, vision to 2045 but still faces many challenges such as trade competition, global conflicts, pandemics, natural disaster, causing economic instability. The minister asked Switzerland to pay attention, give priority to supporting Vietnam and further strengthen cooperation to increase their mutual benefits.
Collaboration programs between the MPI and Switzerland are on schedule and towards the prosperity, including supporting the development of the private sector. Notably, there are projects such as developing eco-industrial parks under the Global Eco-Industrial Park Programme to improve the economic, environmental and social efficiency of some industries in Vietnam; supporting the reform and amendment of the Law on Investment to promote sustainable investment projects; developing climate change master plan.
Ambassador Ivo Sieber expressed his delight at the minister and ministry’s support and coordination during his term in Vietnam, adding that many achievements were made to build a better relationship.
The ambassador suggested that the two sides develop specific plans and new visions to deepen the Vietnam-Switzerland relationship due to global changes and fluctuation.

At a meeting with Hungarian Ambassador Ory Csaba, Minister Dung commended the diplomat’s active contributions to the Vietnam-Hungary relations over the past years and said Vietnam always treasures and hopes to forge its multi-faceted cooperation with Hungary.
The two sides exchanged views on cooperation results and a number of orientations in the future; agreed that Vietnam-Hungary investment cooperation has yet to match potential. The ambassador said that Hungarian enterprises wish to invest in Vietnam as the Vietnamese investment in Hungary is also increasing.
The traditional relationship between the Hungarian Embassy in Vietnam and the MPI will be an important bridge in the relations between the two countries. The two sides hope that Vietnam and Hungary will continue to take full advangtages to further promote the two countries’ relationship in all areas.
Minister Dung wished ambassadors success in their new positions and continue to assist Vietnam, contributing to strengthening the friendship between Vietnam and Switzerland, Vietnam and Hungary./.
