Deputy Minister Phuong expressed his delight at the effective support and cooperation of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development while receiving Flasbarth at the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI) office.
The deputy minister affirmed that the MPI always coordinates closely with the German Embassy in Vietnam, the German Development Bank (KfW) and the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) to implement German-funded projects on infrastructure and institutional improvement.
The KfW has supported Vietnam actively with their projects in the Mekong Delta, he said, suggesting the two sides to do business in several promising fields such as climate-resilient Infrastructure, clean agriculture, smart agriculture and health care.
The deputy minister shared Vietnam’s socio-economic recovery and development after putting the pandemic under control, and said there are still some limitations such as its small economy, low resilience and being easily affected by external factors.
Vietnam aims to become a high-income developed country by 2045, and wishes to receive cooperation and support in preferential loans from the international community in order to “absorb” and “pay”, he added.
Deputy Minister Phuong reaffirmed the MPI’s consistent collaboration with the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development and six development banks on effectively sharing experiences.
For his part, Flasbarth agreed with the deputy minister’s proposals and affirmed that Germany wishes to enhance cooperative relations with Vietnamese agencies, particularly the MPI to enhance Vietnam-Germany investment and partnership./.
