The first conference with enterprises in Niigata, Japan
(MPI) - The Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI) held a conference in Hanoi on October 26 to help enterprises in Niigata prefecture, Japan raise the efficiency of their operations in Vietnam.

Nguyen Anh Tuan, Deputy Director General of MPI’s Foreign Investment Agency briefed Vietnam’s socio-economic situation as gross domestic product (GDP) in the nine months of 2022 up by 8.83%; the country continued seeking measures for keeping macroeconomic stability, controlling inflation, and boosting growth.

A survey showed that over 90% of FDI enterprises achieved medium and high business recovery, he said. Most surveyed businesses expressed their optimism and confidence in Vietnam and committed to continue to expand investment in the country. Vietnam is emerging as an attractive, safe and favorable investment destination and for foreign investors.

The conference is to seek investment opportunities and share difficulties while Niigata’s enterprises doing business in Vietnam. The MPI stands ready to coordinate with Niigata prefecture for investment promotion and efficiency of their preparations in Vietnam, Tuan affirmed.

According to the FIA’s report, Japan became the largest official development assistance (ODA) provider, the fourth largest trading partner and ranked the third among 139 countries/territories investing in Vietnam with above 66 billion USD in about 5.000 projects as of October 2022.

Vietnam will actively and selectively attract foreign investments, taking high-quality, efficiency, modern technology and environmental protection as the key benchmarks. Vietnam also prioritises advanced technology and green projects, with high value-added components, connecting with global production and supply chains.

The country sets up task force to prepare for new FDI wave and support businesses, investors such as: institutional and administrative reform, improving investment environment, building preferential legal framework and implementing tax exemption and reduction.

Arai Ichiro said Vietnam is an attractive and important market for Niigata’s enterprises. He also thanked the MPI’s support for establishing Niigata Support Desk.

Inquiries about problems in business registration and investment from Niigata’s companies were answered by representatives of the ministry at the conference./.
