Deputy Minister Phuong said, Vietnam highly values the WB’s technical support and policy consultations, helping the country access to international finance, respond to climate change and promote green growth.
In the context of complicated changes in the world like decline in economic growth, financial risks, inflation, energy and food insecurity, Vietnam remains macroeconomic stability and achieves positive results, he said. Inflation is tamped down, the country’s gross domestic product (GDP) grew by 8.83% in the first nine months of 2022, among the highest level in the region, and major balances of the economy have been guaranteed.
The Vietnamese government has steadfastly prioritised maintaining macroeconomic stability, harmoniously combining fiscal and monetary policies, and had timely adjustments to manage global challenges in the last few months of 2022, he noted.
The deputy minister lauded the WB for its coordination with the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI) and relevant agencies to develop Vietnam 2045 Report. Although the report is prepared in an early start but can refer to strategic and important documents of the Vietnamese Party and State such as: the socio-economic development strategy in the 2021-2030 period; priority fields for development; and the National Master Plan for the 2021-2030 period, vision to 2050, which will be submitted to the National Assembly for consideration and approval.
The deputy minister expressed his belief that Vietnam 2045 Report will meet the country’s development orientations and be consulted by the Government of Vietnam in policy making process.
Marcello Estevao, for his part, expressed his impression on Vietnam’s development achievements such as pandemic prevention, strong economic recovery and inflation control. Vietnam will have a strong and positive development and growth in the future, he said.
The WB leader highlighted Vietnam’s economy as an important factor of the WB, stressing that he will continue to support the national development priorities and provide policy consultation for green and sustainable approach. Marcello vowed utmost to foster the Vietnam-WB relationship in a comprehensive and fruitful manner./.
