Deputy Minister Tran Quoc Phuong receives Japanese Deputy Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism

During their meeting in Hanoi on December 20, Deputy Minister Phuong highlighted the extensive strategic relations between Vietnam and Japan has been consolidated and strengthened in all fields despite amid global economic fluctuations. He asked both nations to strengthen and expand cooperation at all spheres, focusing on economic-investment activities and official development assistance (ODA).

The MPI will continue work closely with Japanese agencies, organisations and companies operating in Vietnam to promote cooperation and investment activities, he underscored.

Nishida, for his part, said Japan views Vietnam as an important partner and always consents to strengthen cooperation with the country. He hailed the MPI for their efforts and coordination in implement joint activities, voicing their commitments to send Japanese officials and experts to Vietnam to soon remove obstacles and speed up current projects.

As the focal point in attraction of ODA, preferential loans and non-refundable aid not belonging to official development assistance, the MPI works closely with foreign donors to implement set projects, especially infrastructure ones, Phuong noted.

The ministry will coordinate with Japanese agencies in Vietnam and relevant ministries and localities to tackle problems of ODA projects and review procedures, accelerate the implementation and disbursement of projects. Vietnam puts orientation to develop infrastructure investment in the coming time, and hopes receive further assistance of Japanese agencies with proper projects, he underscored.

The two sides agreed continued efforts to remove obstacles and difficulties facing cooperation projects, and to promote collaboration in the spirit of harmonious benefit and risk sharing./.
