Deputy minister Ngoc welcomed SIA’s selection of Vietnam as one of the destinations to survey in its fact-finding tour of Southeast Asia. She spoke highly of SIA’s contribution in leading and guiding the development of semiconductor industry in the U.S. and other countries.
Vietnam has great potential for the development of semiconductor industry, viewing it as an important industry. The Vietnamese Government has issued many support policies and legal corridor for investment in and development of hi-tech products, development of ecosystem, and FDI attraction in electricity and electronics.
Currently, some large companies choose Vietnam as a production centre and some companies consider to expand investment, Ngoc highlighted. Vietnam is viewed as one of electronic centres of Southeast Asia and the world.
She added, Vietnam has much potential for developing the semiconductor industry thanks to high-quality human resources.
Particularly, the National Innovation Centre, under the Ministry of Planning and Investment was also established to support the start-up and innovation ecosystem, as well as build a network of Vietnamese intellectuals abroad.
Vietnam also has many advantages such as strategic geopolitical position; dynamic and integrated country with many free trade agreements signed; and an investment environment is appreciated by the international community.
For his part, Neuffer expressed his impression on the economic development of Vietnam, especially its semiconductor industry. He said, the US’s semiconductor industry is working to re-balance the global semiconductor production chain.
He stressed the importance of Vietnam to the US’s production chains, expressing his hope to cooperate with the ministry to not miss this important opportunity.
Ngoc emphasised, in more than 35 years of doi moi, Vietnam has received practical support from the international community, including the U.S.
The ministry is committed to work closely with SIA to exchange ideas and information, contributing to enhancing investment cooperation between the two countries./
