(MPI) - Do Nhat Hoang, Director of the Foreign Investment Agency, Ministry of Planning and Investment hosted a working session with Japan’s Kyushu Economic Federation, led by Honorary Chairman Aso Yutaka, in Hanoi on March 8.

Director Hoang spoke highly of the strong and comprehensive development of the bilateral relations between Vietnam and Japan, particularly through the successful organisation of the high-level economic conference on March 7.
He congratulated the delegation on the inauguration of the Kyushu trade promotion centre in Hanoi, demonstrating the close economic and investment cooperation between Vietnam and Kyushu.
The MPI and Kyushu Economic Federation signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in 2009 in order to promote investment and economic cooperation between the sides. As of February 20, 2023, the Kyushu Economic Federation has invested 123 projects worth 674.9 million USD, mainly in processing and manufacturing industry.
The FIA’s head said, the two sides’ investment remains modest and not commensurate with their potential, asking both Vietnam and Kyushu further facilitate people-to-people exchange and economic connection in an effective and comprehensive manner in the coming time.
He suggested the Kyushu Economic Federation work closely with Vietnam to promote Vietnam’s image and investment environment to Kyushu, help Vietnam enhance capacity building for its enterprises, and transfer technology in order to participate in global supply chain.
Aso, for his side, said Vietnam is always a leading partner of both Japan and Kyushu. He expressed his hope that the Kyushu trade promotion centre will be a linkage for the two sides’ businesses connect and cooperate in some promising fields such as health, tourism and agriculture.
He wished that the new centre will receive more attention from the ministry to contribute to enhancing economic-trade activities, bringing Vietnam-Japan relations to new height./.
