Determination with the goals set forth, striving GDP growth to achieve and exceed 6.2%

(MPI Portal) – On March 30th 2015, at the MPI’s headquarters, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung chaired inter-Ministerial Steering Committee meeting on macroeconomic management and control of the first Quarter 2015, including the Ministry of Planning and Investment, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Industry and Trade and State Bank of Vietnam.

Reporting at the Meeting, representative of inter-Ministerial working group said that GDP growth rate of the first Quarter was estimated at 6.03%, higher than 5.06% of the same period 2014. Total retailed sales of consumer goods and services increased by 10%; total social investment by 9.1% and total export turnovers by 6.9% as compared to the same period 2014.

These revealed evident recovery trend of economic growth. If solutions removing difficulties for enterprises are implemented effectively, economic growth of 2015 can be from 6.3 to 6.5%, higher than  6.2% of the goals set forth. Macro economy of the second Quarter and whole year 2015 is forecasted to be stable, with inflation maintained at low rate.

Guiding the Meeting, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung stressed that macroeconomic stabilization is extremely important for national sustainable development. Macro economy needs to be assessed regularly to proactively set out the suitable solutions, guarantee its stabilization in the condition of market economy and integration deeper.

The results reported at the Meeting showed that the economy is recovering gradually, macro economy is more stable, growth rate is higher, industrial production increases sharply; agriculture and service gain positive results; exchange rate is stable; foreign exchange reserve rises; social welfares continues to be ensured. These are foundation to implement targets, goals, tasks set forth in 2015 for socio – economic development.

The Prime Minister requested ministries, branches to continue doing well forecast, analysis and evaluation in order to proactively propose flexible, effective solutions and mechanisms, policies for development. It is necessary to continue removing difficulties for business and production; establishing essential mechanism, policy for agricultural and industrial development; maintaining the momentum of industrial growth; further improving business investment environment and reducing administrative costs for firms following Resolution 19/NQ-CP dated on March 12th 2015 by the Government./.
